Marcia Thompson is a Brazilian artist based in London. She studied at Parque Lage School of Arts in Rio de Janeiro from 1985 to 1989 and has exhibited at Art in General and Nara Roesler galleries in New York; Kunstraum Potsdam in Germany; Lund Konsthall in Sweden; Aarhus Kunstbygning in Denmark; EWHA University Gallery in South Korea; Museu da FAAP, Paço Imperial and Centro Cultural São Paulo in Brazil amongst other places. Thompson was represented by Casa Triângulo Gallery in São Paulo (1993/99), Joel Edelstein Gallery in Rio de Janeiro (1994/96), Janaína Torres Gallery in São Paulo (2017/20) and is represented by Mercedes Viegas Gallery in Rio de Janeiro (2004 to date). Her works are part of various private and public collections: Reina Sofia Museum (Spain), Gilberto Chateaubriand (Brazil), Patrícia Phelps de Cisneros (Venezuela/USA), ESCALA/UECLAA (Essex Collection of Art from Latin America/England) and Brazilian Embassy in London (England) amongst others. Thompson was also a PIPA prize nominee in 2018.
